Time Travel Possibilities

Time travel has been on my mind of late for some reason. It could be that I’ve been watching movies like Back to the Future and Interstellar each night as I sit impatiently outside our kids rooms as they fall asleep. Yep we are still in that phase where even if we tiptoe down the stairs our youngest one knows we have left their comfort bubble zone. She will come sprinting out the moment that third step makes that old house sound. Even these new 2022 homes come with that feature!

Like most movies I find myself eventually drifting off from the actual film to start relating it to my life. If we were to wake up tomorrow and be back in time what could we possibly do with that reset day. Or better yet is there a specific day you would like to relive again. I know Marty McFly instantly wanted to score big with the sporting events but to be honest there is no way that would ever work. Could you possibly remember what happen on that particular day in any sport? Maybe there is a particular event that happen that you would like one chance at a mulligan. Whether you are 85, 43, or 18, there is probably one moment that happened that a redo would be awesome or maybe you want to go back to warn yourself of a future incident.

In just a few short weeks we will be graduating our seniors from ThunderRidge High School. It surely will be a day filled of fantastic emotions, tears from the family as they graduate their first kid, smiles and high fives for the families graduating their last kid, and tee times for those graduating their middle kid (it’s OK…I’m a middle kid too). One of the coolest moments in these two weeks is when our seniors get the letters they wrote themselves in ninth grade. Yeah some will say “dude you are cool.” Others will say “hahahaha I just had to write something.” But some will have heartfelt messages that can and will alter their lives moving forward.

The thing is time travel, albeit not physically possible, is possible. The story of us has not been fully written. Yeah the past has been done and no matter how good or bad it has been it will be a part of us. Golda Meir wrote “You can not change the past but you can change the future. One cannot and must not try to erase the past merely because it does not fit the present.” The future is still unknown and you can make it whatever you want it to be. So imagine that 75 year old you is with you today and tell yourself what you need to hear.

Thanks for reading.
